Ladi Kwali | Modernism in Clay

At the  2026 edition of TEFAF Maastricht, TAFETA showcased works by renowned potter and ceramicist Ladi Dosei Kwali (c. 1925–1984), now recognised as a prominent Nigerian female modernist artist. The solo presentation paid tribute to the extraordinary life and artistry of Ladi Kwali, a singular figure whose work reshaped the global understanding of African ceramics in the twentieth century.

A stunning presentation of her works, coupled with an eager TEFAF audience, led to a near sold out show, including the placing of a 1968 Water Pot with a major US institution.
