Oluwasemilore Delano | between slumped shoulders held the moon in waiting

TAFETA is pleased to present between slumped shoulders held the moon in waiting, the first solo exhibition by Oluwasemilore Delano in the gallery. This body of work continues Delano’s long attentive engagement with cows in Nigeria, not as pastoral symbols, but as a signifier of human instinct, honesty, beauty and roughness. These animals appear not as softened European archetypes but as scarred, awkward, strong and quietly secretive beings. They graze, stand, wait and endure within landscapes that feel both familiar and strange, carrying narratives that unfold slowly like riddles told under a shifting sky.

Oluwasemilore Delano (b. 1998) from Ogun state, Nigeria, is a London and Lagos-based artist whose practice explores memory, lineage, and Black spatial consciousness through drawing and sculpture. Her work often engages with materials like charcoal, concrete, oil, and textured black surfaces to interrogate themes of time, self / communal referencing, and cultural inheritance.

Delano began her formal art education with a foundation year at the Royal Drawing School (2016–17), followed by a BA in Architecture at King’s College, University of Cambridge (2017–20), where she was awarded the Purcell Prize for exceptional drawing. She later completed an MFA at the Ruskin School of Art, University of Oxford (2023–24), supported by the Black Academic Futures and Penny Freer Scholarships.

Aisha Olamide Seriki | Where Gravity Loses Force

Where Gravity Loses Force is a collection of objects and photographs that investigates the balance of opposing and complementary forces that characterise existence. The project follows on from Seriki’s seminal project Ori Inu, which states alignment as a harmony between inner and outer worlds.
