Alain Joséphine
Alain Joséphine was born in Fort-de-France in Martinique. He holds a NationalSuperior Diploma of Plastic Expression, art option, obtained at the School of Fine Arts andDecorative Arts of Bordeaux. He became a member of the CEREAP (the Centre for Study and Research in Aesthetics and Plastic Arts) under the direction of Dominique Berthet.
In his paintings and drawings, he questions the spaces that surrounded his childhood. He approaches them by reflecting on the different components at work in their construction, in order to subsequently establish his own pictorial reality.
Recent exhibitions include a showing at the Foundation Clément François in Martinique, Cromwell Place, London, the Galerie d'art contemporain du Conseil Général de la Guadeloupe, and Transatlantic Connections: Caribbean Narratives in Contemporary Art at Christies, London.
Ongoing institutional shows include Soulscapes, a major exhibition of landscape art at the Dulwich Picture Gallery, London.
